The “app sprawl” thing is very real. I have written about this a couple of times, including this ditty that performed pretty well.
I’ve had a few jobs where there are 30+ “critical” apps you need to access in a given day, from Asana to Slack to Google Docs to some HR portal to some financial portal to benefits, etc, etc. It does get exhausting. It’s not utterly exhausting, because increasingly the basics of white-collar work are pretty performative and boring, but it’s exhausting nonetheless.
Now, ideally this whole “app sprawl” thing wouldn’t even be a problem.
