Two such cases to preach from the rooftops.

Because nowadays everyone must have a take on everything, insofar as anyone ever finds or reads this, I just want to be clear upfront that I am not victim-blaming in any way. The men in these stories are horrible and they deserve the shame and punishment. In both cases, they received the latter. I am not sure about the former, as I do not reside within the brains of incarcerated males.

Broadly speaking, we know women make the wrong decision on men semi-frequently, and yes I am definitely counting myself in that, but most of the “wrong decisions” involve a guy that won’t help at home, isn’t active with kids, can’t get you preggers (raises hand), etc. Most do not involve murder. That’s probably less than 3%. We also know that men can make the wrong decisions in these situations — see the Kouri Richins case, or the “Black Swan” murder case.

I want to look quickly at two I’ve recently seen. They’re both a few years old.

Kay Baker

I don’t know all the context here, but let me lay out a little bit for you. Kay Baker was a teacher in Florida. She ended up dead at the hands of a guy named Matthew Terry, who she was dating and who I believe actually lived with her at the time. Terry got a life sentence from the jury when the other option was death. He’s away for good; I believe no parole. So, societally, we flushed that turd. Good on us.
