Is Society, Like, Doing OK?
We had a civil war from 1861 to 1865, although some believe this period is more intense in terms of division. But like, is it?
This screenshot above is from a guy, who had apparently earlier in the day killed three members of either “a family” or “his family,” and then showed up to Nick Fuentes’ house in Illinois attempting to kill him. This guy in the photo ended up dying at the hands of a cop about 10 minutes after this. If you are unfamiliar with who Nick Fuentes is, he’s basically an online right-wing chud who says “Your body, my choice” to females, and is an avowed white supremacist who Kanye brought to a Mar-A-Lago dinner once. You get the picture. Actually, the most surprising thing I’ve learned in the last 20 minutes before writing this is that Nick Fuentes lives in Illinois. That’s an unabashedly blue state and I’m surprised he hasn’t decamped for Florida yet. Oh, well.
I personally think Fuentes’ shit online is vile and ghastly, but I am also not in the business of saying vile and nasty people should be killed. That’s a bridge too far. I’d probably show up to Hitler’s house with a gun if I found a time machine, but that’s maybe the only example. You can disagree with people, but going end-of-life violence on them is drastic. No one should be endorsing that.
