I did not, for the longest time, think it would be possible to be more representative of the conservative white male than Tucker Carlson was. Carlson was the heir to a frozen food empire, for chrissakes! Him and his wife had, apparently, four Pelotons at the same time back in early COVID. (Explain those logistics.) And he was the ultimate flag-waver for “society is in decline because of these damn libs,” turning every single nightly segment/discussion into something about the elites, high irony because he himself would constitute one of the most-elite men in America.

Well, at some point FOX had it with him, and Murdoch’s son called him from the yacht and axed his ass. Jesse Watters, who looks like what you’d find on a Google Image search for “white guy from Greenwich,” stepped up to the plate. I am not sure of his ratings, but I can tell you he is already more of the standard white male conservative than Tucker was.

First, and laughably, his mom — yes, his mom — once called into his show and told him to stop discussing trans kids and Hunter Biden’s laptop, because America had more pressing problems.
