This is why no one really listens to you at work

Almost every aspect that would make you a successful manager (i.e. empathy) is in complete opposition to what you need to do to become a manager in the first place. Sad, but true.

I'm notoriously pretty insecure, so I may not be the best person to tackle this topic. I frequently think people don't listen to what I say, or care what I say, or think I have value, or ... well, I could go on and on, but it might get depressing.
