Riley Strain Case: Please, Please Take Care Of Your Drunk Friends
And perhaps most importantly, don't leave them alone.
As a true crime watcher for probably 15 years now, I can’t tell you how many cases exist where a girl gets separated from her friends via “a crazy night” and she ends up missing or deceased. Kenia Monge is a prominent example (Travis Forbes was the offender in that one). Hannah Graham and Morgan Harrington, who in both cases were killed by a man named Jesse Matthew. Lauren Spierer, whose case has still never been solved, is another prominent case where a too-wild night become a complete tragedy.
Into this mix now comes a male version: Riley Strain. This dude, who is 6-foot-7 and 170 pounds (unique build), was in Nashville with his Mizzou frat brothers two Friday nights ago. They had been drinking, perhaps heavily, and at some point ended up at Luke Bryan’s bar. Riley, seemingly over-served, got kicked out — and it looks like none of his frat brothers went with him back to the hotel or just out of the bar. If you want to see exactly how “over-served” Riley was:
The dude was straight stumbling to the point that you could bring up “Was this guy drugged?” and people would go along with it.
As someone who has had many of these nights, and someone who has had these nights and had to leave a bar by myself without anyone, I can tell you it is a little scary — there are more than a few nights I turn over in my head and think, “Wow, contextually I shouldn’t be here anymore.”
