For some weird reason, Americans are very invested in celebrities and influencers to the point that it seems ludicrous and we argue about things they do and where they might fall on the ideological spectrum. In reality, of course, no one should care and they should go about being the best person and neighbor and child and parent they can be. But, alas, this stuff always distracts us.

But the MAGA and far-right hysteria over Taylor as a “PsyOp” or a “Democratic power grab” is fucking hysterical. First of all, Taylor makes probably 12x what Travis does, if not more. Far more people know who Taylor is than know who Travis is. Far more. If you went into a village in Laos, no one knows who Travis Kelce is. Most kids will know who Taylor Swift is. That’s resonance.
