"The Economy Is F*cking Rigged, Man"

The macro story of this economic moment vs. the micro one.

This is a massive topic and impacts almost every iota of American existence, so I cannot fully unpack it in one Medium post. I will try to skirt the edges, though. First, even if you think The New York Times is a horrific liberal rag (and it can be), they did a good story yesterday on how so many Americans feel the economy is “rigged” and driven by greed.

I am not sure the economy is “rigged,” although it’s undeniably driven by greed, yes. I’ve waxed poetic on that a few times. I also don’t think we’re going to change that. People like getting their nut, whether that means a bigger house, nicer cars, better “things,” a younger spouse, whatever. You can’t reverse thousands of years of human psychology with calls for empathy, unfortunately.
