I got this from some New York Times newsletter because I’m a trifling liberal bitch. No, in reality I just like to read stuff from different sides and see the angles that are being taken. If you read through this, it’s one study, so you can’t take it as “be all and end all,” no. But it speaks to a lot of important points. (1) is that most people have no idea what this “critical race theory” thing is, because they’re busy making ends meet and raising kids and all that stuff. (2) is that it speaks to the bigger idea that 10% of people are informed, and 3% of people are far-left or far-right, and those Venn Diagrams drive all of our societal discussions even though most people just want to discuss life, kids, hobbies, shows, bills being paid, etc.
So what exactly is “critical race theory?” It’s essentially a law school-level concept about how different aspects of society work together to preserve inequality. What we then did with it — and by “we” I mean mostly right-leaning people — was to create a bogeyman about how kids are being taught that white people are evil. The dude who created the movement even has admitted as much:
