Trump And How Elite Liberals Always Miss The Boat
Sad state of affairs re: talking to people different from you.

Essentially, that’s Dana Bash of CNN asking — eight years later — “Who are these people that vote for Trump?” Ha. Dana Bash easily makes $200,000+ per year to help people who watch CNN understand the scope of American politics and whatnot, and eight years after The Golden Escalator Ascent, she’s still wondering hey, why do people vote for this guy?
It’s really not that hard to understand this, and we don’t even need to belabor the point that much. You have a few intersecting threads that help explain Trump. First, you have automation and outsourcing, which gutted some industries and geographic areas — almost all of which are +30 percentage points for Teflon Don. Economic realities shifted, and somehow the less-educated, working-class in those areas felt that a billionaire whose toilet is literally made of gold in midtown Manhattan would be their savior. Go figure.
