What's The Data On "I Regretted Being A Parent?"
Impossible to try and get this, but there's some potential subtext here.
Before we go any further, the short answer is: No, you can never get true data on parental regret. It is not something that people are honest about. You could look at school shooters and Child Protective Services cases in a given area, and that would help you maybe scratch the surface on “OK, there’s probably some parental regret here…” but it wouldn’t be conclusive or purposeful as a “data exercise,” no.
Alright, well about a week ago now, we had this article released.
Instantly, this has to create a moral panic, as best evidenced by Matt Walsh here (bear in mind Walsh has between four and six kids):
There is a lot going on and much to unpack here, but I can try to break it down semi-quickly, I guess. I don’t have children; wanted them, but biologically I don’t think that will ever happen for me, which is disappointing but it’s life. Onward.
