Why Less And Less Peeps Have Kids

Who can date and f*ck in such an ideologically-fraught time?

Basically, you have a weird moment in history right now. While young boys and girls have never been good at speaking to each other and early-stage sexuality is always awkward to some degree, right now it looks like:

• Girls are becoming more liberal.

• Boys are becoming more conservative.

• Boys and girls are both overly-obsessed with their phones.

• No one is approaching the other.

I think the whole “angle” whereby “teen girls are more depressed because they’re liberal” is wrong. I think teen girls are more depressed because this is the high point of human history in terms of social comparison and superficial beauty and all that shit being shoved down your throat hourly on your phone. It has nothing to do with political leaning. It has to do with bad parenting, absentee parenting due to the demands of capitalism and inflation, and over-presence of phones.

And then, let’s say a young girl finds a young man they enjoy, and they date for a while, and said young girl is willing to explore some clothes-off intimacy with this young man. There’s probably a 44% chance, if not higher, that said young man will just attempt to choke her in bed without even mentioning it beforehand.

Oh, and there’s a sliver of a chance that said young man is also texting with your English teacher, who he’s slept with too.

Meanwhile, you do one or two things wrong in this situation, and the shit will get put on blast for the entire school:

Now, as for replacement rate (which actually means you need to have three kids, because 2.1 is replacement, even though almost every parent of two kids I know tells me “We’re doing our paaaaart…”), there are bigger issues there. It all starts with adolescents avoiding each other over social media, ideology, choking, and more. But then into adulthood, you have complicated themes like “third-wave feminism,” girl boss stuff, guys on Reddit and 4Chan, the rise of porn, how hard it is to build and establish a career, the cesspool of dating sites, and how unhealthy many people are. While I certainly know a bunch of fat fucks that churned out four kids, it’s much harder if you’re unhealthy. (A problem of mine, I’m sure.) Plus: microplastics, sedentary lifestyles, etc.

But if people don’t meet and want to fuck and all that, how could we ever hit the number anyway?

Bonus: “sex as social solidarity.”
