Hey.

My name is Ted Bauer. I’m originally from NYC, but currently I live in Texas. (Those are different types of places, yes.) I grew up on the Upper East Side, but now live adjacent to a brewery named “Cowtown.” It’s been a journey.

In the process, I’ve had dozens of different types of jobs, been divorced, been remarried, experienced what they call “significant male Factor Infertility,” lost some good friends (to life and death), and thought a lot about the path through adulthood and where we’re all headed.

I’m not good at many things and generally amble my way through life, I believe. But ever since I was asked to contribute to a fancy little private school newspaper in Kinder, I’ve liked writing and thinking about ideas and new ways of approaching topics. That’s what I do on here and Medium.

I’ve been freelancing mostly since 2015, and while I try to keep different irons in the fire, I’d appreciate you considering a subscription to my Substack if you enjoy some of my writing. You can get in for $7/month. If you go higher, you’ll get a bit more and we can even do some video calls and phone calls and meet IRL to discuss life, love, friendships, relationships, the future of work, and more.

This isn’t society-shifting work, no — other Substacks do that, however — but it is a good place to think about where we’re all headed and the weird path through adulthood. If that interests you, jump in.

Adulthood is weird. Modern society feels unhinged sometimes. Let's navigate it together.

From NYC. Live in Texas nowadays. (Those are different places.) My dream job was ESPN, and I got to work there. (It wasn't a dream.) I write about a bunch of different things.
