I think they know that job security is a myth, social security will not exist when they are 65, and the "next best alternative"–unemployment benefits + scrolling + mom & dad's couch–isn't all that bad.
We broke the social contract, not them. Things are only worth taking seriously if they are actually serious, and most work is simply performing productivity. It's theater.
